Topic: General U. S. Grant and His Horses

Class Brain Visitor:

General Robert E. Lee's famous horse was Traveller.  What was the name of the horse owned by General U. S. Grant?

Class Brain Response:

The name of General Grant's most famous horse was Cincinnati. Cincinnati was the son of Lexington, the fastest four-mile thoroughbred in the United States. (Time -7:19 3/4 minutes) Cincinnati nearly equaled the speed of his half-brother. Here is a picture of Grant and Cincinnati together.

But Grant had many horses throughout his life so here are a couple of excellent articles that will give you the names of all of his horses:

Ulysses S. Grant and His Horses Before the Civil War

Ulysses S. Grant and His Horses During and After the Civil War
