What's your take on the Mystery of "Oak Island" on Nova Scotia....hint....Blackbeard may have set some boobie traps.... or maybe it was a member of the any ideas?

Thank you for bringing this tale to our attention. It’s really quite fascinating. As a response, I’m going to give you a couple of sites that I found that discuss this mystery.

The Active Mind has a great little diagram that shows what was found at various depths. They also have a page where they discuss the various theories of who dug the money pit. It seems as though Captain Kidd or some other pirate is the likely candidate for the originator of the Pit. (Although some other sites also mention the Knights Templar, who liked to hide things with fairly elaborate means.)

I particularly like their page with information on the inscribed stones: So be sure to take a look at that if you like cryptology.

Oak Island and the Money Pit has some great photos of the area and more information on the theories surrounding the Pit. The author, Bill Milstead, actually visited the island and photographed the area.

The Mystery Pit of Oak Island also has a good write up on the history of this unusual place. So if you’re still in the mood to read more, stop by here and have a look.
