Herbs Become Restorative Balinese Boreh Spa Treatment
By Cynthia Kirkeby
Apr 23, 2008, 01:59

You don't have to travel all the way to Bali for the latest Balinese Boreh spa treatments. These special herb infused treatments are available in Santa Fe, New Mexico at the Absolute Nirvana Spa. Although you won't be spending your time during the two hour treatments in a grass hut, you will find yourself totally at home in the beautifully restored Victorian mansion.

The owner, Carolyn Lee, has traveled to Bali for two extended trips and while there she fell in love with the herbal infused spa treatment known as Balanese Borah.

I loved that they use plants, spices and natural ingredients in their spa treatments, which inspired me to open Absolute Nirvana following the same philosophy. We truly strive to make the experience authentic in all aspects.”

The spa treatment begins with a ritual foot scrub and transitions into an overall body scrub. Organic cloves and rice, ground by hand, are used for exfoliation and to increase blood circulation. Sandalwood, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, coriander seeds, rice powder, turmeric and nutmeg are mixed which add warmth and stimulate the body’s natural disease-resistive functions making the Balinese Boreh spa treatment excellent for aching muscles, fever, headaches and arthritis.

In Santa Fe, New Mexico there are spas every few yards offering everything you can imagine, so it was an amazing honor for the Absolute Nirvana Spa to be named “one of the hottest new spas in the country” by Conde Nast Magazine.
