Eyes Wide Open Exhibit - The Cost of War
By Cynthia Kirkeby
Jun 26, 2011, 4:07pm

In May 2006, the Eyes Wide Open Exhibit illustrated the cost of war by displaying 2400 combat boots on the National Mall, each pair representing a soldier lost in the war with Iraq. A sobering reminder...

Another element of the exhibit was the wall of remembrance, which was a tribute to the lives of the Iraqis who have lost their lives in the war. According to the exhibit organizers, there were over 11,000 names written on the wall representing Iraqi citizens who have been killed.

The exhibit has been traveling through the U.S. since June 2004. To see where it has been and where it plans to go, visit the official Eyes Wide Open website.
