An historic moment was marked on the evening of February 20, 2002, at 8:02 p.m. At that precise time, on that specific date, what happened had not occurred for 1,001 years and will never happen again.
As the clock ticked over from 8.01p.m., time read, for sixty seconds only, in perfect symmetry 2002, 2002, 2002, or more precisely, 20:02 (8:02 pm on the 24 hour clock), 20/02 (date and month), 2002 (year).
This historic event didn't have the same poignancy as the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month which marks Armistice Day, but it was an event which had only happened one time before, and is something which will never be repeated.
The last occasion that time read in such a symmetrical pattern was long before the days of the digital watch and the 24-hour clock at 10:01a.m. on January 10, 1001. Since the clock only goes up to 23.59, it cannot take place again.
From someone who wrote into Trivia Time at shagmail regarding the date
Our thanks to Lee at www.shagmail.com for this interesting BrainBite.
The historic event on 20:02 02/20/2002 is not the last time a palindrome of time will happen. 21:12 12/21/2112, exactly 110 years 10 months one day one hour and ten minutes from February's palindrome should be the last one using this method of date and time keeping. From Alisha and Shagmail.com
