Make Your Mark Week
By generationOn
Oct 21, 2011, 23:12 PST

Use your ingenuity during the third week of October to celebrate Make Your Mark Week, an initiative by generationOn that inspires and mobilizes kids of all ages to “make their mark on the world” through hands-on service. By doing small acts or projects, kids can find that there are often big results on someone's life, their community, or even the world.

Research has shown that young people want to make a difference in the areas that matter most to them. Because of this, generationOn has chosen five service areas for Make Your Mark Week 2011 including: animals, environment, homelessness, hunger and literacy. In an effort to support the development of the service projects related to these issues, generationOn is equipping youth with educational resources, tool kits, project ideas and incentives for small acts.

“We are so proud of the young people who are engaged in service and volunteering, and who are making their mark on the issues that matter most to them,” said Kathy Saulitis, vice president, generationOn youth & family engagement. “We are hopeful that Make Your Mark Week will encourage more youth to become engaged in service and look to generationOn as a resource to help them make the world a better place.”

Choose a project from the generationOn lists, or create one of your own

With a goal of engaging at least 100,000 young people in service during this week, generationOn encourages kids and families everywhere to get involved and make their mark on their local community by making a pledge to take action at or on Facebook.
