Teaching and Copyright Rules for Distance Learning (TEACH)

The TEACH Toolkit is a resource site created by the North Carolina State University Libraries to help teachers and students understand how recent changes in the law affect copyright issues and education, primarily with distance learning.

There is an overview of the TEACH and how it affects institutional users of copyright materials, a permissions guideline with various checklists that teachers can use to see if they are compliant with the regulations, and an excellent copyright tutorial.

Anyone that is involved with copyrighted materials and teaching, which I suppose includes us all, should take a look through the materials on this well constructed site. It’s much easier to take steps to be compliant at the beginning of a project than it is to fix an infringement problem after the fact.

You can also learn more about the technological requirements of the TEACH Act, and the meaning and importance of the TEACH Act from the American Library Association.
