Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling
Harry Potter is an epic tale of magic full of surprises that's so good you'll want to read it over and over and over...

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
(UK: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone)

To us, Harry Potter is the boy who has captivated millions, but in his world he's the boy who lived. His parents were murdered by the greatest dark wizard of all time. The wizard tried to murder him too, but some how he survived. He was stuck with his terribly non-magical aunt and uncle, as well as tortured by his porky cousin Dudley.

Life was pretty miserable until his eleventh birthday. That's when he found out that he was a wizard and had been enrolled in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Once he gets to school he realizes that there are more mysteries than just hidden doors at Hogwarts. Dangerous guardians protect dangerous secrets...

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Harry Potter has many admirers, human and otherwise. Dobby happens to be otherwise, but loves Harry to the point of heroism. Dobby says, "Harry Potter must stay where he is safe. He is too great, too good, to lose. If Harry Potter goes back to Hogwarts he will be in mortal danger."

Although Dobby almost kills Harry trying to keep him away from Hogwarts, Harry goes back to school determined to enjoy time with the friends he has missed so much over the summer. Things never go quite as they're planned, however, and when mysterious incidents bring harm to students, teachers wonder what may happen next.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Dark shadows follow Harry everywhere, whether they are omens of death or glimpses into his worst memories. A convicted mass murderer stalks Harry, and his friends once again try to keep him safe. When his friends ask him to stay out of trouble, Harry responds, "I don't go looking for trouble." What Harry means is that life at Hogwarts is bound to be as exciting as always.

On a different note, Hermione solves the age-old mystery of how to be two places at once. Hagrid sends Harry a book that bites, and flying becomes problematic due to certain difficulties with Harry's broom. Everything leads up to a stag, a dog, a wolf, and a rat that are all part of an ending that's impossible to predict.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Quiddich has been canceled in order to host a different event that's "top secret." The new event is just as exciting as Quiddich; the only problem is that Harry may have been entered into this event in order for someone to kill him. If he doesn't get bitten, stung, or burnt by Hagrid's new pets, there is every possibility of him burning, drowning or dying. The fact that the audience for his possible demise is now two schools larger adds to Harry's stress. If that weren't enough, romantic relationships are a possibility for Harry. Dumbledore doesn't tend to worry needlessly, so the fact that he is very worried tells a lot.
