Travel Itinerary - Family Fun In New York City
By North American Journeys

Fun for the Whole Family
Like your children, the city never sleeps, and it is full of fun, interesting, stimulating and educational experiences for people of all ages. Here are just a few of the many activities that are perfect for family travel.

Stay at The Westpark Hotel, a stylish urban retreat offering 90 unique, designer inspired guestrooms and suites located in midtown Manhattan.

Day 1

You have arrived in New York City and you're ready to explore. Start off by taking a Circle Line sightseeing cruise around Manhattan Island and see it all - including over 25 world-renowned landmarks and a magnificent close-up of the Statue of Liberty. The full island tour takes 3 hours; shorter tours are also available. If you are really looking to speed things up, you might want to ride the Beast, 30 minutes of fun-filled high-speed cruising through New York harbor with spectacular views and a super close-up photo opportunity at the Statue of Liberty.

For a lunch that is out of this world, head over to Mars 2112. If you've ever fantasized about traveling to Mars, this is the interactive dining experience for you, complete with an authentic Martian citizen!

Spend the afternoon exploring the newly opened Discovery Room at the American Museum of Natural History. It is an interactive exhibit that offers families, and especially children ages 5-12, a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at the Museum.

Day 2

The adventure continues in Brooklyn. Take the subway to the New York Aquarium in Coney Island. From beluga whales to walruses, sharks to seahorses, this aquarium's incredible variety of wildlife reflects the diversity of marine life itself. Touch sea stars and experience the energy of a 400-gallon wave crashing on a rocky coast while you stand dry underneath at the Explore the Shore exhibit, or enjoy the Sea Cliffs exhibit, a 300 foot-long recreation of the rocky Pacific coast. You'll also want to catch the new seahorse exhibit, and the Aquatheater, where Atlantic bottlenose dolphins are the stars from May to October.

Like many areas of New York, Coney Island has recently been revitalized. Stroll along the boardwalk, eat cotton candy, play arcade games and ride the famous Cyclone roller coaster or take in a Brooklyn Cyclones minor league baseball game.

Day 3

The Empire State Building is famous for its beautiful views from high above the city streets, a don't miss for any trip to New York City. But this landmark building holds more than just an observation deck. NY Skyride is an awesome aerial tour of New York City that sends you on a ride around, above and even below all that the city has to offer... and you feel the sights from the comfort of a specially equipped, motion simulated big screen theater seat!
